The WD Green 500GB SATA SSD (Western Digital model WDS500G5G0A) is an internal solid-state drive designed to provide an affordable performance upgrade for desktop and laptop computers. It replaces traditional hard drives by offering significantly faster data access with no moving parts, reducing boot times, speeding application launches, and improving overall system responsiveness for everyday computing tasks.

This drive uses 3D NAND flash memory technology to deliver reliable storage with sustained performance and low power consumption, making it suitable for general-purpose use in consumer PCs and notebooks.

It is packaged in a standard 2.5-inch SATA form factor (7 mm height), ensuring wide compatibility with both laptops and desktops that support SATA III (6 Gb/s) drives.

As part of the WD Green series, this SSD emphasizes energy efficiency with relatively low power draw during active operation and very low power in idle or DevSleep modes.
